Yates County is among one of the poorest counties in upstate New York. Based upon the 2022 New York State KWIC report about 22.2% of the children in Yates County live in poverty. With nearly 53% of children receiving free and reduced-priced lunches, there are children and families in need. Our programs serve both Penn Yan Central School and Dundee Central School District areas, as well as some private Yates County Headstart programs and homeschooled families.
This program provides ALL Yates County students, regardless of income, with a new backpack and all the necessary teacher requested school supplies to start the new school year. Currently serving half of the Yates County students enrolled.
